About Families Against Violence
Fathers Against Violence (FAV) came into existence in March 2011, a birth drenched in tragedy and driven by unimaginable loss. It was founded by James Gregory, a father left shattered after his son was brutally murdered in a gang-related incident. This devastating event ignited a relentless resolve within him—a resolve to combat the very violence that stole his child.
From the ashes of his grief, James Gregory built FAV, a lifeline for other families ensnared in the vicious cycle of gang violence. The cause resonated, grew, and on March 2016, it became officially recognized as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, under the name Families Against Violence (FAV).
This isn’t just an organisation; it’s a movement born from heartache and fuelled by the unyielding determination to create a world where no family has to endure what James and his family did. The name “Families Against Violence” isn’t just a title—it’s a call to arms, a rallying cry for all those who refuse to let violence tear more lives apart. A movement which aims to empower families, youth and build stronger communities through education, sports, training & coaching and healthy activities.
MISSION STATEMENT
Families Against Violence is dedicated to reducing gang and gun culture in Greater Manchester and other parts of England through a preventive approach and early intervention. We aim to bring young people together to promote social inclusion, build self-esteem, and inspire positive life choices. Our mission is to engage the community to take a stand against violence, fostering collaboration and responsibility to create safer neighborhoods. By offering support and education, we strive to empower individuals and families to lead lives free from violence and contribute to a stronger, more compassionate society.
VISION STATEMENT
We envision a community where every individual is safe, valued, and empowered, where violence is no longer a threat, and where all families can thrive in harmony and unity. Our goal is to create a society in Greater Manchester and other parts of England, where young people are inspired to reach their full potential, social inclusion is celebrated, and every person plays a role in building a safer, more compassionate future. Through education, support, and collaborative action, we aim to eliminate gang and gun violence, transforming lives and strengthening communities.
The Founder
“Hello, My name is James Gregory, and I am the Founder of Families Against Violence CIO. I’d like to personally welcome you to our community. We are a non-profit charity dedicated to helping children and young people grow into role models for future generations, guiding them away from the challenging situations facing the current generation.
At Families Against Violence, we believe in the power of positive role models and engaging activities to make a difference. That’s why we have our own football club, CUKI FC, where we run sessions on various days and across a wide range of locations throughout Greater Manchester. It’s just one of the many ways we reach out to young people to encourage teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyles.
If you’re interested in learning more about what we do, we’d be delighted to share our story. You can request our participation in events, talks, or conferences to showcase our work and discuss how we’re making a difference. To get in touch with us, please visit our “”Contact us”” page or fill out our “”Bookings”” form, and we’ll be happy to assist.
